American Legion Post 47 has scheduled a program for Veteran’s Day, November 11th.
Pinedale Schedule of Events:
8:45AM: Pinedale Elementary School performance In the Pinedale Elementary school gym.
9:00 am Veterans Memorial at American Legion Park, 21 Rifle Salute, Everyone is invited
10:00 am Middle School Assembly, Pinedale HS Auditorium
11:00 am High School Assembly, Public is invited to attend, Pinedale HS Auditorium (Broadcast "Live" on KPIN radio, 101.1 FM)
12:00 pm Veteran's Luncheon at the VFW
Veteran’s Day is a Federal holiday. Most government offices and banks will be closed on this day. This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country's service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to "Veterans Day" in order to account for all veterans in all wars. We celebrate and honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. When first celebrated as Armistice Day, the day marked the end of World War I, formally recognized on the "11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month" in 1918.
