Union Wireless has been in the process of upgrading their network resulting in phasing out their 2G phones, which may have come as a surprise to customers who have older phones and recently found their cell phones are no longer working. Union announced the upgrade in early August 2015. Customers with 2G phones will need to upgrade to newer phones.
According to a press release issued on August, 3, 2015, Brian Woody, Chief Customer Relations Officer at Union Wireless, said "We are contacting customers in advance to migrate those users to the new network. As devices rapidly change from 2G to newer technologies, upgrading old phones is inevitable and necessary. A new phone will allow customers to take advantage of improved service, safety, productivity and entertainment features."
