March 2, 2014
Sunday, March 2, 9:15AM report: Buried. 20" of new snow at White Pine. Unbelievable. With the wind yesterday I couldn’t even find the trail in some places this morning. Groomed Old Road Trail, Lower Surveyor, the outer perimeter of Upper Surveyor (Hummer Loop, no interior trails), Moose Ridge, Tree Loop, Kelly Park, and Kelly Tie-In. 29 degrees, mostly cloudy, little breeze coming up right now, might snow again, pretty nice. Expect very soft conditions for skate skiing – recommend classic skiing. There are still some moose hanging around the upper trails. They are reluctant to give up the trail because of the deep snow. They can be dangerous – best to just turn around and leave them alone and ski someplace else. Road is plowed. Will try to get over to the CCC Pond area by after lunch if can get the groomer around all the traffic from the fishing derby. Will get to the golf course maybe tomorrow.
