Pinedale Hockey Association brings out young skaters

The Pinedale Hockey Association (PHA) hosted ‘Try Hockey for Free’ Day Saturday October 19 at the Sublette County Ice Arena in Pinedale.
Try Hockey Free, aimed at children ages 4 to 6, provides a chance to try out the sport of hockey without any commitment or cost. The event was free with equipment provided. Approximately 20 Sublette County youth took advantage of the opportunity.
Participants registered, geared up and then hit the ice. Volunteers from the Pinedale Glaciers were on hand to help the kids stay on their feet and give them some pointers. After a little practice many of the players participated in a scrimmage game.
Shelly Williams, PHA President felt the day was success. "We had a lot of kids come out and have a good time and that was our goal for the day."
PHA will host a second ‘Try Hockey for Free’ day Saturday, Nov. 2 from 1:15 to 2:15. This event is part of a nationwide USA Hockey promotional program to encourage kids, ages 4 to 9, to come out and try youth hockey as part of the NHL's Come Play Hockey Month. Over 500 local programs across the country will be participating. It is also free with equipment provided. Participants may pre-register online at www.tryhockeyforfree.com or register at the Sublette County Ice Arena as they arrive. Kids will receive a free hockey jersey and goody bag for taking part.
Mite and Mini-Mite equipment checkout will be held directly after ‘Try Hockey Free’ from 3:30 to 5:30.
