Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, March 17, 2012
March 16, 2012
(Saturday, 8:20AM report) Trails above were groomed last night and are in good condition. Very warm out, above freezing, and was slushy last night. Recommend going this morning, asap for best conditions. No more grooming at the CCC Ponds trails due to wildlife closures which began on the 15th. Skyline Drive road is dry. Portions of the White Pine Ski Area road and parking lot are a bit slushy, so be cautious where you park. Recommend not using the parking lot by the Nordic Barn at White Pine, rather use the bigger area closer to the lodge to park. If you have dogs, recommend going to the Kelly Park area or park in the 1st turn out past White Pine and accessing Tree Loop and upper trails from there. The Golf Course trails are melting and showing grass. Warming temperatures are melting the snow and we’re getting to the end of the season, but you can still find some places to get in some skiing.
Dogs permitted only on the Old Road Trail, Lower Surveyor Park and Kelly Park trails. Skiers are asked to please pick up after your dog’s droppings.
County crews keep Skyline Drive road plowed to the White Pine Parking lot. No services at the lodge (White Pine is closed for the season), however there is a new Nordic Warming Hut with a vaulted restroom at the trailhead near the White Pine parking lot.
