FARSON – Work has begun to widen a section of US 191 between Eden and Farson, bringing reduced speeds and delays.
The project limits begins at milepost 36.9, just north of Eden, and extend approximately two miles, to milepost 38.82. The project will provide two thru lanes in each direction and a center left turn lane.
While most of the work this year takes place off the highway, motorists need to slow down in the work area and be prepared to stop as the work on the shoulder area includes dirt work to make room for the additional lanes, extension of drainage pipes, temporary fencing, etc.
The placement of gravel for widening, asphalt paving and permanent fencing will begin in the spring of 2011. The contract has a completion date of Oct. 31, 2011 and was awarded to McMurry Ready-Mix Co. for $2.9 million.
