PINEDALE – Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. contributed $5,000 to the Pregnancy Resource Center for its Client Services program. A new center recently opened in Big Piney, and Encana’s funds will be used to expand and maintain the program in Big Piney and Marbleton.
"The Client Services program facilitates the growth and success of young families, so they can become self-sustainable and thrive within the community," said Randy Teeuwen, Encana community relations advisor. "This program directly aligns with Encana’s goal of promoting family and community wellness, and we are happy to partner with the Pregnancy Resource Center and its effort to empower new parents to develop effective parenting skills and improve family functioning."
Designed to restore, equip and enable women and men to make positive choices, the Pregnancy Resource Center provides counseling support, material assistance and encouragement to families facing an unplanned or first time pregnancy.
"The main objective of the Client Services Program is to assist new parents to acquire beneficial parenting skills, promote self-care and improve family performance," said Heidi Dickerson, the Center’s executive director.
Dickerson stated that a secondary goal of the program is to increase the involvement and helpfulness of fathers as they seek to become responsible, effective parents and role models within their families and community by employing the education, resources and skills they need to achieve success.
The Client Services program is DVD-based and encompasses Earn While You Learn, a program that helps new parents gain parenting education, counseling support and resources that prepare them during pregnancy and through the transition to parenting.
"The Client Services and Earn While You Learn programs offer continuous motivation, and new parents can earn incentives, such as cribs, diapers and formula to complete the programs," said Dickerson. "They can apply what they learn in all aspects of personal development, become financially independent and foster positive community relationships."
A longtime supporter of programs that promote wellness and enhance health care, Encana has contributed more than $23,000 to the Pregnancy Resource Center over the past four years. "Encana’s support has been crucial to the establishment of our organization," said Dickerson. "And their continued support has provided sustainability and growth to program services."
