Wolf advocacy organizations (the Wolf Recovery Foundation and Western Watersheds Project) have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Agriculture (both Forest Service and Wildlife Services) in federal court in Idaho.
The complaint alleges:
• The Forest Service is illegally continuing to authorize livestock grazing in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area under terms and conditions that have caused, and will continue to cause, substantial impairment of wolves and other primary wildlife and recreation values for which the SNRA was established; • Wildlife Services is illegally carrying out past and foreseeable wolf control actions in central Idaho, including the killing of individual wolves and wolf packs in and around the SNRA; and
• The Forest Service illegally approved the landing of helicopters by the Idaho Fish & Game Department i(to dart and capture wolves) in the Frank Church/River of No Return Wilderness area.
