Internationally-acclaimed brass ensemble to perform ‘American Musical Journey’

The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present internationally-acclaimed brass ensemble, The Dallas Brass performing live at the Pinedale Auditorium Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Incorporating humor with intricate playing and a touch of history, the Dallas Brass will perform some of America’s greatest hits from the past 230 years as part of their show: "An American Musical Journey".
American Musical Journey incorporates a full complement of brass and percussion for a musical travelogue through American history. From the time of George Washington to the present day – music will be selected from the masters – Copland, Bernstein, Geshwin, Berlin, John Williams Sousa; from bands like the Tijuana Brass and Chicago; and styles from Dixieland, swing, Broadway, folk, pop and even hip-hop! There is definitely something for everybody. American Musical Journey is an anthology of music that lifts the American spirit and connects audiences with our own musical heritage. It is a showcase of the gift’s that American composers have given to our nation and a delightful and an elegant display of the musical talents of this outstanding ensemble. American Musical Journey is infused with wit, humor and intricate playing.
The Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and has toured overseas to Europe and the Far East. They have shared the stage with the late Bob Hope, have performed for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush, have appeared on the CBS "Early Show", and their music has been used numerous times on the television show, "The Young & The Restless".
Additionally, members of Craig Sheppard’s middle school and high school bands will be performing live on stage with the The Dallas Brass at the show.
As of March 5th, the 5th – 8th grade students were working on a Star Wars medley and the high schoolers were tackling American Tableau. Both numbers will be rehearsed with the Dallas Brass in a clinic/workshop prior to the March 18th performance.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for our band students to practice, interact and perform with musicians of this caliber," Sheppard said on Monday. "Over 100 Pinedale student musicians will be performing with the Dallas Brass that night."
