WYDOT Update, Tuesday, April 1, 12:00 Noon: WYDOT is preparing to open westbound I-80 between Laramie and Rawlins and Highway Patrol troopers will escort the traffic to ensure it maintains a safe speed through the highway section. Once backed up traffic in Laramie is cleared, westbound I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie will be reopened. Eastbound I-80 between Rawlins and Laramie was reopened at 10 a.m. with a patrol escort to keep the traffic flowing safely. Weather conditions have remained too cold to allow patching of the pavement section about two miles east of Walcott Junction damaged by a truck fire Monday. About a 60-foot section of the pavement in the westbound driving lane is riddled with shallow potholes one to two inches deep, so damaged road signs will be posted and traffic will be allowed to travel over it at a reduced speed.
