Pinedale Nordic Ski Grooming Report, March 7
by Bob Barrett, Pinedale Ski Education Foundation
March 9, 2008
This week’s trail grooming of 3” of new snow over a deep and hard-packed base has put our trail system in the best shape of the season. All trails along Skyline Drive from Halfmoon Overlook through Kelly Park and up to White Pine and Surveyor Park have excellent skiing for both classic and skate skiers. Barring a major warm-up, we should have good skiing here at least through the end of March.
Closer to town, we’ve moved PistenBully #2 down to groom the wind-prone 3-mile loop at the CCC Ponds twice a week until the end of the season. By agreement with the USFS and BLM, we’ll halt grooming here after March 15. Until then, the skiing has been great if you can catch the trail after grooming and before the northwesters fill it in with foot-high drifts.
