Questioning Sublette County gas prices

Letter to the Editor, December 31, 2007:
“I've been following gas and diesel prices in our county and other places for a while. I've come to the conclusion that we are being taken advantage of in Sublette county. All you have to do is drive to Rock Springs, Evanston or Jackson to see the problem. I was on my way back here on Dec 29th. I stopped in Evanston for gas and was surprised when regular unleaded was $2.799 a gallon but more amazed when diesel was $3.099 per gallon at more than one place. That's 45 to 62 cents a gallon more we are paying here for diesel. I was in Jackson a few weeks ago and the same thing seems to happen but not as much for diesel. Take a look at all the diesel pickups around the county and see how many of them that have auxillary tanks in the bed of them. Most of them are 100 gallon tanks so every time they fill one up it saves $45 to $62 dollars. Maybe you could include the Flying J in Rock Springs, Flying J and the Pilot in Evanston, and Smiths in Jackson in your gas and diesel surveys on pinedaleonline. I'm glad that other people are concerned about these price discrepancies also.” – R.T., Daniel, Wyoming
