In late January, wildlife managers converged on the Muddy Creek Elk Feedground near Boulder to begin the elk test-and-slaughter pilot project at the state-managed elk feedground. The purpose was to identify infected elk in order to reduce brucellosis in the Pinedale Elk Herd and minimize potential to transmit the disease to cattle when they co-mingle.
