Osborn Cabins
November 13, 2006
Dave Bell took this photo of the Osborn Cabins near Green River Lakes on Sunday.
The cabins are part of a homestead from the early 1900s. They later became part of the G.P. Bar Ranch, which operated as a guest ranch on the edge of Green River Lakes.
The land and cabins were sold to the U.S. Forest Service in 1966 and most of the cabins were sold and removed. One of the original cabins from the ranch still remains and can be seen near Green River Lakes Campground. It is used only occassionally as an administrative building and is not open to the public.
The cabin in this photo is located on the east side of the Green River near the outlet of the lake, accessible from the footbridge near the trailhead into the wilderness.
