The Wyoming Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will conduct an oral oil and gas lease auction on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in Cheyenne. The BLM will offer a total of 213,819 acres in 194 parcels in Wyoming. This sale includes over 11,765 acres in Sublette County in parcels.
One large group being offered is on BLM managed land located in the Beaver Creek drainages areas northwest of the Daniel Junction and west of US Highway 191 and the Green River.
Another group of parcels is located east of US Highway 191 approximately 10-20 miles southeast of the intersection of the Big Piney 351/US 191 cutoff, on the east side of US 191. These parcels are a few miles east of the concentrated area of the Jonah Field, in a general direction extending southeasterly from the southern end of Pinedale Anticline. They are north of the Big Sandy Recreation Area and reservoir and on both sides of the Big Sandy River.
All parcels listed are on BLM designated lands. None of the leases being offered for sale are on Bridger-Teton National Forest. Habitats are high-desert, dry rolling aagebrush-covered hills to the south by Big Sandy Reservoir, and sagebrush/aspen hills to the north in the Beaver Creek drainages.

Leases are for a primary term of ten years, and will be continued as long thereafter as oil or gas is produced in paying quantities.
BLM has mailed out a notice of sale to potential federal oil and gas lease bidders. It contains a complete list of the parcels, conditions of the sale and lease stipulations. Copies will be available at the sale, and can be purchased for $5 from the State Office at 5353 Yellowstone Road in Cheyenne, or by writing: BLM, Attn: Copy Work, P.O. Box 1828, Cheyenne, Wyo. 82003. Copies are also available for purchase from each BLM field office in Wyoming.
