The Pinedale Boat Club held their annual Father’s Day Fish Derby Sunday on Fremont Lake and had a record turnout with 71 entries. Seventeen of the participants entered fish over the minimum 22 inches. The weather and fishing conditions were almost perfect throughout the day.
Lakeside Lodge hosted the derby, providing use of their docks and decks for the day. Boat Club President, Charlie Golden, once again proved his fishing prowess by landing the runaway winner, an 11.7-pound Lake Trout measuring 32-5/8 inches in length.
Two anglers caught fish weighing in at identical weights of 7.2 pounds. Ted Porwoll of Pinedale took second place over third place winner John Young of Jackson by virtue of having the longer fish.
Fourth place went to Kayle Cross of Rock Springs with his 4.7 pound fish, while Norm Pape of Daniel took fifth with a 4-pound fish.
Winners: 1st: Charlie Golden, Pinedale, 11.7#, 32-5/8", $1000 prize 2nd: Ted Porwoll, Pinedale, 7.2#, 31-3/8", $750 prize 3rd: John Young, Jackson, 7.2#, 30", $500 prize 4th: Kayle Cross, Rock Springs, 4.7#, 28", $250 prize 5th: Norm Pape, Daniel, 4.0#, 23-3/4", $100 prize
