SW District HS Music Festival
Pinedale Music Department performs well

The Pinedale High School music department traveled to Big Piney last Friday and Saturday, April 28 & 30th, to participate in the annual Southwest Wyoming District Music Festival. While there, the concert band, concert choir, jazz band, jazz choir and numerous soloists performed for their judges.
The 59-piece concert band earned two (superior) I ratings from their adjudicators. The jazz band also received two (superior) I ratings from their judges. Both bands had a half-hour clinic with adjudicator Greg Paulson, a band director from Casper, working with the concert band and adjudicator Ryan Foxley from Star Valley working with the jazz band.
The Pinedale Choir did very well with the 44 voice Concert Choir receiving two II (excellent) ratings from their judges while the jazz choir received two II (excellent) ratings also. Judges for the concert choir were Cyndy Barnard from Douglas, Wyoming and Dr. Jane Iverson, a retired professor from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne. Dr. Iverson worked with the choir in their clinic. The jazz choir was adjudicated by Ralph Bennett from Malad, Idaho and Dr. Iverson. Their clinic was headed up by Mr. Bennett. Pinedale vocal had six soloists participating on Saturday. Soloists receiving I (superior) ratings were Kathryn Konicek and May Rose Huntley. Soloists receiving II (excellent) ratings were Sadie Nelson, Jeslyn McGinnis, Amy Keyser, and Stephanie Wilkerson. The vocal accompanists were JJ Huntley and Jaclyn Nelson.
The Pinedale vocal department is under the direction of Gena Anderson and the Pinedale instrumental department is under the direction of R. Craig Sheppard.
Come out and listen to these young musicians perform in their last concerts of the year Monday May 8th (Spring All Bands Concert). This concert starts at 7PM in the Pinedale auditorium and there will be no admission charged. Jazz Band and Jazz Choir will be performing Thursday May 4th at the senior Lasagne Dinner from 5-7 in the school cafeteria.
