Wyo Governor Freudenthal to seek 2nd term
April 3, 2006
Dave Freudenthal announced Monday that he will seek a second term as Wyoming Governor. He made the announcement in his home town of Thermopolis.
Despite being a Democrat, Freudenthal has been popular in the state where Republications outnumber Democrats better than two-to-one. He served as U.S. Attorney for Wyoming for nearly eight years before being elected governor in 2002. He was born in Thermopolis, Wyoming, in 1950. He had his own private law practice in Cheyenne for 16 years. His wife Nancy is also a lawyer and has been active on issues such as reducing underage drinking.
Freudenthal is being challenged by Republican Ray Hunkins, a rancher and attorney from Wheatland, who announced his candidacy for governor last month.
