PHS Students go to Honor Band & Choir

On Monday and Tuesday, November 7th and 8th, twenty-one Pinedale high school musicians participated in the annual Southwest Wyoming District Honor Band and Honor Choir in Evanston. They were selected from nominations sent in by the directors from the nine schools participating in this clinic/concert.
Students practiced for two days with other musicians from area schools and performed a concert on Tuesday night in the Evanston High School Auditorium. Schools participating were Lyman, Mt. View, Evanston, Cokeville, Kemmerer, Star Valley, Jackson, Big Piney and Pinedale.
The All-District Honor Choir was directed by Dr. Michael Krueger, Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Krueger is a former performer with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers and has been a guest conductor and clinician throughout all of North America. The All-District Honor Band was under the direction of Doug Moore, Director of Bands at Sheridan County School District #2. He has been a guest clinican and conductor in nine different states. Mr. Moore was a director in the Southwest District of Wyoming at Evanston for 12 years before moving to Sheridan, Wyoming.
Pinedale members in the Honor Choir were Sadie Nelson, Amy Keyser, Jeslyn McGinnis, Jackie Key, Megan Baker, May Rose Huntley, Chelsey Hanson, Julianne Goltz and Dylan Nelson.
Pinedale band members selected to the Honor Band were Morgan Holz, Elise Sterck, Stephanie Pape and Sarah Archambault– flute; Ashley Transtrum and Kelsi Dean – clarinet; Kendall Brunette– alto saxophone; Andrea Jones – tenor sax; Shanna Corwin and Colter Bennett – trumpet; and Max Burns and Jeff Biffle – trombone.
These students are under the direction of Gena Anderson – Pinedale High School choir director and R. Craig Sheppard – Pinedale High School band director.
