Kid's Fishing Day
by Clint Gilchrist
June 4, 2005
In conjunction with National Fishing Week, Trout Unlimited, Wyoming Game & Fish, US Forest Service, Wyoming Bureau of Land Management and Encana combined to hold the annual Kid's Fishing Day at the CCC Ponds near Fremont Lake on Saturday, June 4th.
About 50 kids attended, most with either their parents or grand parents. The kids were taught spinning casting, fly casting, fish identification, hook baiting, knot tying, fish handling, fish habitat, fishing ethics and fish safety by dozens of volunteers.
After the fish clinics and free lunch, the kids were excited to hit the ponds and fish. For most this is their first fishing experience and, for the lucky ones, their first fish.
