Motocross and Snocross track in Cora?
Pinedale Snow Explorers Snowmobile Club Request
March 17, 2005
The Pinedale Snow Explorers Snowmobile Club put in a request to the Sublette County Recreation Board Tuesday night for funding to make improvements at their 80-acre track facility in Cora to build a MotoCross/SnoCross track. Currently, the facility is being used for snowmobile related winter events such as the Pinedale One Lunger and Snow Drag Races snowmobile events.
The Pinedale Snow Explorers Snowmobile Club was established in 1965 and is a popular club for snowmobiling in the winter and ATV club outings in the summer. They currently get their monetary support from membership dues, donations and funds raised from entry fees and concessions at club-sponsored races.
In February, the Snow Explorers took part in a SnoCross Snowmobile Race in Bondurant that was part of the Mountain West Racing (MWR) circuit. The event was extremely well received leading to encouragement to have future SnoCross events in Sublette County.
The Club is asking for $102,000 to do dirt work for clearing sagebrush, grading and landscaping, maintenance equipment, putting in power lines for the track and concession building, remodeling the concession stand, toilets, improving the water well system to grow grass and buying an improved timing system for drag racing. The Snow Explorers won’t know for a couple of weeks if their project will be one of the ones to receive financial support from the Recreation Board’s available funds.
