More Snow on the way
March 20, 2005
More snow is expected to fall in Wyoming from a series of winter storm systems moving through the area this week. Over the weekend, snow showers brought several inches of new snow to the mountains and valleys. White Pine Ski Area picked up about 7 inches of new snow. Area SNOTELS reported from 3-5 inches of new snow in the Wyoming and Wind River Mountain ranges. As we write this update on Sunday morning, Pinedale has several inches of new snow on the ground and it is still snowing.
New Snow Expected The mountains of western Wyoming could see 3-5 inches of new snow, and the valleys 1-3 inches of new snow, out of this storm Sunday and Sunday night. Eastern Wyoming is also expected to also get several inches. Travelers are cautioned that mountain passes may be hazardous in places.
An even stronger storm system is expected to move into the area Wednesday and Thursday of next week. This storm could produce more significant snowfall across western and central Wyoming. The National Weather Service advises travelers to stay tuned to weather updates for more information.
