Stoppers Hoax
Shooting Call Crime Stoppers is offering a $200.00 reward for information that would lead to the arrest and conviction of a person who called in a "hoax" shooting call Thursday evening (October 25th) at about 9:00 P.M. The person said he was on a GB. base station 23 miles north of Pinedale in a cabin in the North Beaver area. He called out on the C.B and a trucker heard his call and relayed the information to the Sheriff's dispatch. The caller said there was an accidental shooting of a 44-year-old male from Rock Springs and that he was hit in the chest on the right side. The "hoax" victim went from breathing on his own to receiving CPR from other hunters and that he was dying. Sheriffs Officers and Pinedale ambulance crew responded to the area and spent 5 hours trying to find the alleged victim. There was no victim. The Sheriff's Office has the suspect's voice recorded and feel that if we are able to get some information from a citizen that we can tape the suspect's voice and compare the two. We need your help. Thousands of taxpayer's dollars were wasted on this call with 6 Sheriff's personnel and 3 ambulance crew responding. The ambulance crew is shorthanded anyhow and other lives could have been jeopardized during this fiasco. Sheriff's personnel went to the area in the daylight Friday morning to "clear" the area in case it was not a hoax. It is a confirmed hoax. I urge any citizens that know who called this in to assist us in this matter. Your very lives could be in jeopardy if these things go unpunished. If you have any information about this crime, or any other crime, call Crlme Stoppers at 307-367-6593 or 307-276-5448. You may remain anonymous. Hank
