Job Description: The Senior End User Support Technician provides on-site, day-to-day technical assistance to County office and law-enforcement personnel. This role resolves hardware, software, application, and network issues; manages user provisioning; administers physical access credentials; and serves as the primary liaison between end users and the IT department.
Required Education and Experience Education: - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: - 5+ years of hands-on end user support in a Windows-centric environment. - Demonstrated experience with Active Directory, Office 365, and Adobe user administration. - Proven ability to image and deploy desktop systems using industry-standard tools. - Prior exposure to supporting Java Web Start applications and traditional client–server business applications. - Experience troubleshooting network connectivity (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Required Licenses or Certifications (Preferred) - CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ - Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (MD-100/MD-101) - Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
Essential Responsibilities: - End User Support: - Respond to and resolve Tier 2/3 incidents for desktops, laptops, and peripherals. - Troubleshoot and repair Windows and macOS client machines. - Support traditional client–server applications, web applications, and Java Web Start–based software.
Network & Connectivity: - Diagnose and troubleshoot wired and wireless network issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN). - Coordinate with network/system administrators for escalated network problems.
Account & Access Management: - Provision and deprovision user accounts in Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office 365, and Adobe Creative Cloud/Document Cloud. - Deploy and maintain physical access credentials (badges, door readers) and integrate with physical security systems (door access, cameras).
Imaging & Deployment: - Build and maintain reference images; deploy workstations using MDT, WDS, or equivalent imaging tools. - Ensure software updates, security patches, and antivirus definitions are current.
Peripheral Support: - Install, configure, and troubleshoot scanners, multifunction printers, and MFP scan-to-file/email workflows.
Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: - Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party vendors supporting business applications, state agency portals, network infrastructure, and physical security systems. - Communicate technical issues and project updates clearly to end users and stakeholders.
Compliance & Documentation: - Complete and maintain required CJIS training and background checks to work in a law-enforcement environment. - Document incident resolution steps, create and update knowledge-base articles, and maintain asset inventories.
Knowledge, skills & abilities: Soft Skills: - Excellent verbal and written communication; able to translate technical jargon for non-technical users. - Strong customer service orientation with patience and empathy. - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-security environment. - Proven vendor management and project-coordination skills.
Compliance: - Must successfully pass CJIS background check and complete mandatory CJIS security awareness training.
